Pantone Fashion Color Reports

The world-renowned authority on color, Pantone Inc., has published its fashion color report for fall 2008. Fall 2008 is described as the "season of change" defined by rich, elegant and vibrant hues.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute states that "fall is traditionally a time for subdued, quiet colors, but this season we are seeing a shift toward cool hues with bright, exciting undertones".

Fall 2008 main colors are Blue Iris, Royal Lilac, Shady Glade, Caribbean Blue, Twilight Blue, Aurora Red, Withered Rose, Burnt Orange, Ochre and the understated Shitake. You can download the report, free-of-charge, from the Pantone Website.

It also includes designers' sketches and quotes on their inspiration and color philosophy as well as on fashion must-haves for fall 2008 season. Pantone Fashion Color Report is a reference book not only for fashion editors and retailers but for every fashion lover out there.

For spring 2008 the color palette reflects the cheerfulness of the season. Designers offer a playful spring palette with revigorating splashes of bright hues punctuating neutrals in an endless number of original combinations. Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2008 defines the top 10 spring 2008 colors: Golden Olive, Spring Crocus, Rococco Red, Pink Mist, Croissant, Freesia, Cantaloupe, Daiquiri Green, Snorkel Blue and Silver Gray.

Among the spring 2008 season's must-haves: Bill Blass points out an Ashes of Roses and Steel Gray cocktail dress, Tia Cibani for Ports 1961 - the deep-back cropped jacket in Safari, Tracy Reese - a 1930s bias slip dress in Peacock swirl, Nanette Lepore - a plunge-neck romper in Vibrant Orange and Curry and Reem Acra - a dress in floral prints.
