Folklore inspired posh at Vilshenko

Olga Vilshenko’s feminine and polished designs are inspired by Russian cultural heritage and they outshine the ‘boho-chic’ labeling due to modern, smart tailoring and luxurious fabrics. Originally from Ural region of Russia, Olga Vilshenko took further her family legacy of custom making high quality garments by launching her internationally acclaimed namesake fashion label in 2009.

The designer’s innovative esthetic vision that fuses artisan detailing, elegant minimalist silhouettes and classic couture techniques was perfected while studying at London’s Istituto Marangoni and at the Institute of Fashion and Art in Moscow. The two capital cities bring an eclectic influence over Vilshenko’s designs, as the designer keeps a studio in each of the locations.

Vilshenko spring-summer 2013 lookbook

The label’s spring-summer 2013 collection mixes a playful feel over this season’s fashion trends (ethnic, sheer fabrics, black & white and collage): traditional embroideries and bucolic woven patterns are magnified or digitally reinterpreted in patchwork style prints for a striking result, contrasting with restrained silhouettes.

The silk blouses and cotton dresses with scalloped hems and bibs, the oversized embroidery or the large abstract-paisley prints are more of an intellectual commentary on folklore inspired trend in fashion and make for a timeless fashion investment.
