Anna Selezneva is Eco Warrior

The Silent Russian model Anna Selezneva poses as 'Eco Warrior' for the fall/winter 2009 edition of i-D magazine. Photographed by Richard Bush and styled by Sarah Richardson this "post-apocalyptic" character imagined sports some very cool utilitarian chic outfits with hints of punk-rock and grunge.

Zara campaign: fall/winter 2009/2010

What's not to like about Zara fall/winter 2009/2010 campaign shot by fashion photographer David Sims? German model Toni Garrn, here in a meditative mood, is one of my favorite faces in fashion, the clean, modern cut of chic urban clothes are quite appealing. I also love minimalist photography in black and white or in soft, shaded light and neutral colors. The fall 2009 Zara ad campaign has more of a somber tone which I find quite fresh for the Spanish high end fashion chain.

Hussein Chalayan autumn/winter 2009/2010 ads

Hussein Chalayan's first advertising campaign for his Fall-Winter 2009/2010 Earthbound collection looks like a design sketchbook or an artistically edited portfolio. The ads staring belgian Ann Catherine Lacroix, dutch model Iekeliene Stange, russian Serafima Vakulenko and belarusian beauty Tanya Dziahileva were snapshots taken backstage at the Fall/Winter 09/10 runway show by photographer Amy Troost. The conceptual designer chooses a minimal promotion of his collection, sans artifice, focusing on clothes and their inspiration source, but does this do them justice?

Burberry campaign: fall/winter 2009/2010

Charismatic Emma "Hermione" Watson is the star of Burberry Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 ad campaign shot by fashion photographer Mario Testino around Westminster. The 19-year old British actress surrounded by young male models presents Burberry's outerwear and accessory collection perfectly suited for London's cold, foggy weather.

A more grown-up looking Emma, who was chosen for her classic beauty with a brainy, modern edge, poses as the subtle leader of a cool teen gang, kind of like her character in ‘Harry Potter'. Except here they are all dressed in stylish Burberry signed jackets, blazers, trenches and overcoats.
Creative director Christopher Bailey told WWD: "I wanted the images to represent both the rich history and the modernity of the Burberry brand, while at the same time reflecting a quiet beauty, timelessness and strength that is particularly significant today".

Lara Stone in Fiction Noire

One of the most controversial fashion editorials is signed by the one and only Mr. Steven Klein featuring Dutch model Lara Stone. Lara Fiction Noire was published in February 2009 issue of Vogue Paris, an entire number dedicated to the Nordic muse, who was nicknamed "gothic Brigitte Bardot" by designer Ricardo Tisci.

Givenchy campaign: fall/winter 2009/2010

One of the rebranding initiatives of this season, Givenchy decided to quit the minimalist black &white aesthetic of the previous campaigns and replaced photography duo Inez & Vinoodh with digital photo artists Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Bringing their exuberant, innovative approach to Riccardo Tisci's edgy-glam fashion, the team couldn't be more cohesive. Lavish, aristocratic interiors/bedrooms of Ferrières castle oppose with sharp tailoring and dark looks in a Mert&Marcus signature surreal style.

Womenswear ads starring Tisci's muse Mariacarla Boscono, new-comer Ranya Mordanova, androgynous beauty Iris Strubegger have two "aces up the sleeve": Leonor Scherrer, daughter of retired couturier Jean-Louis Scherrer, declared to "represent France in all senses: the elegance, the aristocracy, the darkness" and Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima who is the very goth angel in the first ad.
Menswear ads feature male models Simon Nessman, Manuel Ramos and Jakob Wiechmann. Givenchy fashion accessories ad campaign - fall/winter 2009/2010 starring Iris Strubegger is shot by fashion photographer Mark Pillai.

Prada campaign: fall/winter 2009/2010

The newest womenswear advertising campaign from Prada continues with the "cloned" beauties approach of the last season but at the same time goes for a lot more somber, mysterious aura.
Savage looks (crimped hair, smoky eyes) and dark waters hit the "back to the nature" feeling of the fall 2009 collection; I would say it sends out a mythological reference but those high-heel fishing waders/rain boots are an odd wake-up call to reality.

The new calendar of Campari features Ukrainian actress (and Bond girl) Olga Kurylenko who shares spotlight with the other main "character": the city of Milan. The camera follows the volatile femme fatale throughout a chameleonic metropolis with Campari infusing passion in every still.

There's no doubt that fashion has become a whimsical art muse yet have you ever imagined shoes being the subject of a "baroque painting"?

Here Comes The Sun

Lovely photoshoot "Here comes the sun" published in the summer 2009 issue of H&M Magazine features Russian beauty Anne Vyalitsyna (Anne V.) who made her way from Victoria Secret Angel and Sports Illustrated gal to high-fashion model.
She is photographed by one of the new talents in fashion photography, Swedish-born Camilla Akrans, who is very fond of outdoor lighting and whose work is known for a dreamy, soft quality. What a fresh breeze in a male dominated industry.

Lanvin spring/summer 2009 ad campaign

Norwegian model Iselin Steiro stars in the spring-summer 2009 ad campaign for Lanvin pictured by world renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel. At a first glance this campaign brings nothing novel; just a beautiful girl that has a special relationship with the mirror/her reflection. But while dressed in Lanvin who wouldn't become a little bit narcissistic? At a second look these photos insinuate modern woman's worship for fashion. A couture dress can glamorize everything around be it a time-beaten décor.

Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2009 ad campaign

Marc Jacobs calls on again photographer Juergen Teller to shoot the spring-summer 2009 ad campaign starring Brazilian topmodel Raquel Zimmermann. The images show a sun-soaked orchard with pomegranate trees and a tea-party dressed young lady wandering about, climbing on ladders to pick fruits.

The shiny fabrics, bold colors and clashing prints go together almost organically with the blue sky and warm meadow hues. All this could sound boringly nice if it wasn't Juergen Teller who brings his signature gritty, raw aesthetic with soft, muted color palette and realistic touches.
There's something funny and something unsettling too about these images; take the extra shadow, for example, or the sunset light, that chair and so on...

H&M spring/summer 2009 ad campaign

The loveliness personified, miss Coco Rocha stars in the spring/summer 2009 ad campaign/catalogue for the Sweden-based chain store H&M. It's quite impressive that the muse of sophisticated couture designers like Lagerfeld, Gaultier and Galliano can look so sweet and flirty, also.

Well I imagine it can't be that hard when you're running about in this lavish Mediterranean garden setting wearing pretty clothes in sun-bleached floral prints and light neutrals. H&M spring/summer 2009 campaign is romantic and warm sending out a care-free, charming vibe.
